Final-year Computer Engineering · Backend-focused Software Engineering

Backend-focused engineering, with full-stack delivery.

I’m Shaker Al-Masri, a final-year Computer Engineering student at An-Najah National University focused on backend/software engineering. My project work spans server-side validation, databases, authentication, testing, deployment, and the frontend needed to deliver complete applications.

About me

Backend-focused by direction, full-stack by capability.

I’m building toward backend/software engineering roles, with particular interest in data flow, validation, authentication, reliability, testing, and maintainable application structure.

I still work across the full stack when a project needs it. Frontend work is part of delivering complete, usable applications—not the main direction I’m pursuing.

How I approach work

  • Start with clear structure before adding visual complexity.
  • Keep content, components, accessibility, and performance in mind from the beginning.
  • Build in focused checkpoints so every change can be reviewed and improved.

Projects

Selected work, presented with honest scope and clear outcomes.

Wasel Palestine

A university team backend for Palestinian mobility intelligence with versioned APIs for checkpoints, incidents, reports, alerts, and route estimation. My verified contribution focused on route-mobility and external routing reliability.

Project highlights

  • Team project: modular NestJS/TypeScript REST API with PostgreSQL, TypeORM, JWT, validation, and external integrations.
  • My contribution: route estimation using route modes, nearby checkpoints, verified incidents, and requested avoid-areas.
  • My contribution: OpenRouteService integration with caching, configurable timeouts, environment-based configuration, and local fallback.
  • Team engineering evidence includes Swagger/OpenAPI documentation, automated tests, and k6 performance testing.

Clothing E-commerce Template

An independently built bilingual full-stack ecommerce template where checkout, pricing, variant stock, catalog queries, and admin rules are enforced on the server.

Project highlights

  • Transactional checkout recomputes prices, reserves variant stock, snapshots purchase data, and uses idempotency to avoid duplicate orders.
  • Size/color combinations are modeled as database-backed variants with normalized unique keys and variant-level stock.
  • Product search, category filtering, and capped pagination run server-side instead of loading the full catalog in the browser.
  • Better Auth sessions, role-based admin guards, same-origin checks, optional Redis rate limits, and automated tests protect important flows.
  • Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • Prisma
  • PostgreSQL
  • Better Auth
  • Zod
  • Vitest
  • Playwright
